A Cambridge summer…

The Tall Ships were breathtaking but they have come and gone….  what else there is to do on your visit to Cambridge Massachusetts? As a local I have plenty of ideas…

To start with I am a fan of the Duck Tours. I know it’s crazy but even as a local it is really fun to get a little history on Boston, some quirky jokes and odd stories about different landmarks. Then of course splashdown in the Charles River is fun for any age visitor! Reserve in advance though, they do get sold out.

If biking around and making your own way is more your thing, Harding House has partnered with Cambridge Bicycle to offer our guests $10 off daily bike rentals.

When you get hungry on your ride be sure to check out Alive and Kicking for a lobster roll. This little gem, tucked away in a residential neighborhood has very reasonable prices on very fresh lobster with picnic table seating and a local following to boot.

There are also all kinds of free concerts around Cambridge and Boston in the summer. The Boston Public Library has free concerts in their courtyard on Wednesdays and Fridays and Cambridge is offering concerts in Kendall Square on Thursdays. Both of these areas have plenty of restaurants for lunch and are close to public transportation so no car necessary!

Ice cream is everyone’s favorite summer time treat and Cambridge certainly has more than its fair share of spots to get a cone. One of my new favorite places is Honeycomb Creamery. It’s located just outside Harvard Square but their flavors are so different than anywhere else. They make their own cones and Taco Tuesdays are the best! Toscanini’s is a Cambridge tradition and not far from us in Central Square. My favorite there is the Earl Grey ice cream and they also do micro sundaes, since we all know an actual sundae usually ends up feeling like “too much”.

Lastly I have to mention BerryLine. This place is known for its frozen yogurt and I love it  because they have “original” which is basically plain frozen yogurt for when you don’t want all the rich flavor or sweetness. They do also have the most extensive fresh fruit toppings I have ever seen so you can sweeten your plain with real fruit!
