Lilac Sunday
May 14, 2017 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Traditional tours of the lilacs and other collections, family activities, food trucks, and picnicking at the Arnold Arboretum. Free.

Music festival May 14 – 21, 2017
Together Boston celebrates music, art, and technology with performances, films, exhibits, and educational panels in Cambridge.

Comedy competition
May 26, 2017 (10 p.m.)
Vote for your favorite Boston standup comics in the final round of the month-long StandUp ThrowDown tournament at ImprovBoston.

Family friendly Boston Calling has outdoor stages for big-name music acts in the Harvard Athletic Complex at 65 N. Harvard Street in Allston. Repeats in Sept.

Campfire Festival
May 26 – 29, 2017
Hear new performers and watch songwriters interact and swap tunes as they sing in the round at Harvard Square’s  Club Passim. Repeats in Aug.

The Dance for World Community Festival is the capstone of Festival week and is presented by Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre.  The  DWC Festival is a FREE, day long, indoor-outdoor festival celebrating the power of dance to create change in our communities, locally and beyond.

Join us from Noon-6:00 PM for FREE performances by more than 90 local dance groups and FREE introductory classes in a wide variety of dance forms.  There’s something for everyone and every age at this incredible day of dance!

Celebrity food festival
June 2, 2017 (6 to 9 p.m.)
Guy Cooking with Best Buddies Celebrity Chef Food and Wine Festival includes food from 25 local chefs, wine, beer, entertainment, and celebrities (Guy Fieri of Food Network and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots) in the Murr Center at Harvard University.

Beer festival
June 2 – 3, 2017
Microbrew Invitational offers a curated selection of beer from breweries making less than 465,000 gallons per year, at Seaport World Trade Center, age 21+.

Modern dance
June 2 – 3, 2017 (7:30 p.m.)
Urbanity Dance performs Spring Revue, featuring works from celebrated contemporary choreographers at Tsai Performance Center. Discount tickets $8 to $15.

2017 Boston Pride Festival
The highlight of LGBT Boston Pride Month is the Boston Pride Parade, which begins at noon in Copley Square and ends at Boston Pride Festival in City Hall Plaza. Free.

Dragon boat festival
June 11, 2017
Boston Dragon Boat Festival includes Chinese arts & crafts, dance, drumming, music, martial arts, food, and dragon-boat races on the Charles River. Free.

Tango dancing
June 14 – 18, 2017
Boston Tango Festival includes dance classes, dances with live music, and a Saturday show in Somerville.

Tall ships
June 17 – 22, 2017
See 44 magnificent ships when they stop in Boston during theRendez-Vous Tall Ships Regatta, either free from shore, or with a grandstand seat or cruise ticket. The Parade of Sail is June 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

June 18, 2017
Make Music Harvard Square features 125 musicians playing rock, pop, hip hop, and jazz in 10 venues on international Fête de la Musique day. Free.

Juneteenth
June 21, 2017 (5 to 10 p.m.)
Celebrate the emancipation of slaves with an evening of live art and performances at Juneteenth: Evolution of Freedom at the Museum of Fine Arts. Free.

Summer Solstice Celebration 2017
Summer Solstice Celebration includes circus performers, music, dance, food trucks, hands-on activities, and free entry to four Harvard museums.

Boston JerkFest™ is an outdoor/indoor family-friendly Caribbean style foodie festival that features Jamaican jerk spiced food and all things spicy and hot.features Caribbean restaurant food for sale, rum, beer, and live music (reggae, steel drums, Latin rhythms)  Boston Jerkfest is Saturday, June, 24, 2017 at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, 41 Berkeley Street in Boston’s South End. The festival offers two sessions: 11am-3pm and 4-8pm.

The Rum & Brew Tasting @ Boston JerkFest will take place on Friday, June 23, 2017 , 6:00-9:30pm at the same location.  This 21+ event  features live music and unlimited tastings of rum, local craft beer and a variety of Caribbean themed libations. http://bostonjerkfest.com/about/

 

Taste of Allston
June 24, 2017 (12 to 3 p.m.)
Taste of Allston includes tastes from 20 restaurants, live music, and a drink at Harvard University Department of Athletics. Arlington arts fair June 24, 2017 Arlington Alive is a block party with a stage of eclectic live music and dance, storytelling, art and craft booths, food vendors, and family activities. Free.x

 

July 2017

Boston GuitarFest includes concerts, competitions, and workshops at the New England Conservatory. The theme in 2017 is Latin America.

GBTA Convention is the world’s largest business travel event. Enjoy New England craft brews from 20 brewers and a meal from local food trucks with live entertainment at Craft Beer Fest at WGBH Studios for age 21+.

FunFest features your favorite flavors of ice cream and treats plus live music by family friendly artists, interactive games, face painting, inflatable rides, and PBS characters like Curious George at WGBH Studios.

Shakespeare on the Common is a free show by Commonwealth Shakespeare Company at Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common. The 2017 show is Romeo & Juliet.

Fisherman’s Feast

Enjoy Italian food, music, and culture at the Fisherman’s Feast, which pays tribute to Our Lady of Help on the streets of the North End. The Flight of the Angel is a high-wire act 8 p.m. Sunday. Free.

ALT Rocks includes three free concerts: Copley Square (Aug. 17 & 31) and SoWa Open Market (Sept. 9).

St. Anthony’s Feast is an Italian street festival with food vendors, a music stage, religious ceremonies and processions on Endicott St. Free.
